THE CREATURES OF HABIT has many band members in different levels of involvement.

We have the main (core) members, the semi-regular members, the recurring guest members, special guests, and past members.

THE CORE MEMBERS:

UKU MERI

Main instruments: synthesizers, keyboards, vocals, synth guitar

Other instruments: bass guitars, guitars, drums, percussion, Chapman Stick

The Connection: The connection is with Michael, starting with "Accolade" in 1979, and the formation of "The Creatures of Habit" in 1989.

What else: Uku is the producer, the audio engineer, web designer, graphic artist, logo & album cover designer, video engineer, computer wiz, archivist, the driving force, and so forth... He also has released several solo and (other) group CDs in different styles of music. See merimusic.com for additional information about his other projects.

MICHAEL PENDOLA

Main instruments: drums, vocals, percussion

Other instruments: keyboards, synthesizers

The Connection: The connection is with Uku, starting with "Accolade" in 1979, and the formation of "The Creatures of Habit" in 1989.

What else: Nowadays, he just comes up with vocal stuff "on the fly" for our live, improv "Street Prog" - without missing a beat.

MARK CORRIGAN

Main instruments: synth guitar, guitars, vocals

Other instruments: bass guitars, Chapman Stick, other stringed instruments

The Connection: After meeting and jamming with Uku (for a Yes tribute band), was pulled into COH in 1989.

What else: Mark is the other driving force behind the COH. Mark pulled the COH back together in 2006 after a long hiatus (by getting married, no less). The COH has been on a steady roll ever since.

THE SEMI-REGULAR MEMBERS:

(They make it as often as they can, which is more often than the recurring guest members.)

ROY JOHANSEN

Main instruments: electric & acoustic guitars, keyboards

Other instruments: sitar guitar, other guitars

The Connection: Has known Mark since the early 90's.

What else: Roy has released albums with his other (current) bands, including "Roy G.Biv", the "Pocket Monsters", and the "Gorns".

MILO BARASORDA

Main instruments: percussion, vocals

Other instruments: dabbling on assorted instruments

The Connection: Has known Uku since the late 70's, and was his neighbor in the early 80's.

What else: Milo is an accomplished ARTIST, and also an actor, playwright, and set designer for off-off-OFF Broadway plays.

DAVE WIENER

Main instruments: guitars with effects (usually all homemade, including the guitars), synth guitar, vocals

The Connection: In the 1980's, with Michael & Uku, was a member of "Accolade" and "Squid Barrett" (a space-jam band), along with countless other jams and projects including one with Michael & Mark in the 1990's.

What else: A chef by day, and mad scientist at night. Dave has made some incredible hand made instruments (electric guitars and basses) and ingenious hand made stomp boxes.

RECURRING GUEST MEMBERS:

(They make it as often as they can, which is more less often than the semi-regular members.)

TIM DEMPSEY

Main instruments: bass guitars, vocals

Other instruments: guitars, drums, keyboards

The Connection: Has known and played with Michael since the 90's.

What else: Tim is an ARTIST, with some artwork viewable on the Internet.

ANDY GOLBA

Main instruments: bass guitars, standup basses

Other instruments: Andy makes his basses sound like other instruments

The Connection: Has known Uku since the mid 70's from jamming.

What else: He is usually busy gigging with his other bands.

RICH STEIN

Main instruments: electric & acoustic guitars, electric fiddle/violin

Other instruments: Rich plays many instruments, such as viola, banjo, and other stringed instruments

The Connection: Has known Uku since the early 80's, also as a roommate and bandmate ("Argon" & "Human Sushi").

What else: He has released many albums, some classical, some string quartets, some midwestern, and performs solo, duo, and with his ensembles, when he's not teaching music. Visit his website at clearsteer.com.

JIMMY SANTOPOLO

Main instruments: drums, percussion

The Connection: Has known Uku since the 90's from the local paddleball courts. He is the "other" drummer in the band (especially when Michael cannot make the gig/session), depending on schedules.

What else: Jimmy is very busy gigging and subbing for many different bands in a variety of styles. He also has designed and markets a seat back-rest for drummers and other musicians that use a stool as a seat. See his website for more information on his back-rest.

In this picture, left to right, ROY JOHANSEN, DAVID COLLURA, and JOSEPH COLLURA.

JOSEPH COLLURA

Main instruments: trombone, euphonium, other brass and winds, vocals, guitars

Other instruments: bass guitars, guitars, percussion, keyboards

The Connection: Was Milo's neighbor in the 2000's.

What else: Joseph is a classically trained trombonist who has toured South America. Joseph has put together albums, including a concept album, all by himself.

SPECIAL GUESTS:

PETE MAYO

Main instrument: bass guitars

Other instruments: guitars

The Connection: In the 80's, with Uku & Rich Stein, was a member of "Argon" and later continued with Rich with other bands.

What else: Indeed.

MIKE GANDIA

The Connection: Has known Uku since the '70's, they were both in a band named "Hot Pork". Mike was famously known for his band "Squadron", for which Uku was very involved as the audio and lighting engineer and photographer for the band's singles,  promo shots, and playbills.
